If your organisation manages multiple companies on Xace, you probably know the old routine: log out, log back in with a different email and password, pass 2FA again, just to work in another company. It works, but it’s slow and frustrating when you’re jumping between entities all day.
We introduced Company Switching to fix that. You stay in one session and move between linked company profiles from a dropdown in the app.
Phase 2 is now available: you can link and unlink profiles yourself, without contacting your account manager or our support team.
What’s new in Phase 2?
| Phase 1 | Phase 2 |
Who sets it up | Our team configured profile links for you, per client | You link and unlink profiles directly in the app |
How accounts get connected | Account managers verified which email addresses belonged to the same group | You prove ownership by logging into each account you want to link |
Making changes | Request changes through your account manager | Add or remove links anytime from your profile page |
Security | We validated the group before linking | You confirm ownership at login. It takes fewer manual steps on your side and less room for human error |
Basically, the core experience is the same. What’s different is how profiles get connected and who manages that setup.
Who is this for?
Company Switching is designed for larger organisations that operate multiple companies on Xace and have separate logins for each one, for example, different legal entities under the same group.
If you only use one company profile, you won’t need this feature.
How to link a profile:
Open your Profile page in Xace.
Click Link Profile.
Log in to the other account you want to connect to.
After logging in, you’ll be redirected to that account.
Open the company/profile dropdown. You should see all linked companies there.
From that point on, you can switch between them without logging out.
Tip: Link profiles that belong to the same person and role across companies (e.g. your Owner login for Company A with your Owner login for Company B). That keeps permissions and responsibilities clear.
How to unlink a profile
If you no longer want two profiles connected:
Go to your Profile page.
Find the linked profile you want to remove.
Click the delete icon next to it.
The profiles are separated immediately. Switching between those companies will require a normal login again.
Important to know
Two-factor authentication (2FA)
This feature works a bit differently than you might expect, and it’s worth knowing upfront.
Your session uses the 2FA from whichever account you logged into most recently.
If you switch to another company and perform a sensitive action (such as making a payment), you’ll need the 2FA code from the most recently used account, not necessarily the company you’re currently viewing.
In Phase 1, 2FA always came from the first account you logged in with. Phase 2 follows the last account you authenticated. Keep that in mind if you use different authenticator setups per company.
Notifications and emails
These haven’t changed from Phase 1:
Notifications go to the account where the action happened. Emails are sent to the email address on that same account. So if you approve a payment in Company B, Company B’s notification settings apply, even if you switched there from Company A.
Security
Only link profiles you own and are authorised to manage. When you click “Link Profile”, you must log in to the other account — that’s how we confirm it’s really yours.
Don’t link accounts that belong to different people or unrelated organisations. If you’re unsure whether two profiles should be connected, check with your internal admin or account manager before linking.
Quick summary
Phase 1 (March 2025): We built the switching feature and set up profile links on your behalf after verifying your group’s email addresses. Good for getting started, but every change meant a request to us.
Phase 2 (Self-Service): You manage links yourself — faster, more flexible, and you confirm ownership directly at login. The switching UI, notifications, and email behaviour stay the same.
