We have now launched our virtual cards onto our web application following a successful week trialing the technology. Currency restrictions have now been lifted and you can use virtual cards for purchases in any currency no matter what account type the card is linked to.
Virtual Cards provide a secure and disposable way of using your account, with different functionality to normal payments.
A virtual card is not a pre-pay card and does not require loading of funds before use. It creates direct access to your account funds as any normal debit card does, it's just virtual.
Cards come with their own limits, set by you when you create them.
A card payment is a pending payment until it is settled by the merchant. This means the payment may not show in your transactions for up to 3 days. All payments on your card, authourised, settled, declined and refunded can be seen on your Card activity stream.
If a card transaction does not show as authorised after your payment has apparently been made, it may happen a few hours later and in most cases, it will be an unauthorised or failed payment that has not yet attempted to charge the card. If nothing at all happens, contact the merchant directly to find out why the payment has not been processed with VISA.
How to use a Virtual Card?
A card can only be created on select accounts, where cards are available in your menu and will only be accessible when that account is set as the active account.
Once a card has been created, you can 'View Card' to see your number, expiry date and CCV number.
Using your card is now the same as any debit card, although we're yet to support Apple Pay, we do support PayPal.
When paying with your virtual card, please use the address listed under your profile as your billing address. To change these details, please contact our support team.
If you need to block a card for any reason, you can do so on your Card page and also unblock it when you need it again. To destroy a card, you can simply cancel it and it will be destroyed and another can be created to replace it.
